Pupils at Rushden Primary Academy enjoyed a wonderful day of activities as they came together to celebrate VE Day and learn about its importance.

Across the school, children took part in a range of events to help them understand why VE Day is remembered and celebrated. Lessons throughout the day focused on the end of World War II in Europe and what it meant for people at the time.

Early Years children marked the occasion with a delightful jam sandwich tea party, giving them a taste of the simple celebrations families might have enjoyed in 1945.

Meanwhile, Year 4 pupils enjoyed a picnic together, alongside learning all about VE Day and why it continues to be an important moment in history.

The day provided a valuable opportunity for pupils of all ages to reflect on the past, while also enjoying a sense of community and celebration.

Principal Ms Edwards commented, “It was lovely to see the children so engaged. They not only had fun but also developed a meaningful understanding of why we remember VE Day.”

Overall, it was a memorable day that brought history to life for everyone involved.
